OC Transpo plans to remove route 46 later in 2024. While it is proposing routes 41, 44 and 92 as replacements, this will leave significant portions of Alta Vista without any bus service. Other portions will now require a transfer. Some of the most affected areas include:
- A portion of Walkley Road, between Heatherington and Holly, will no longer have any bus service. The closest bus stops to Food Basics, McDonald’s, the Quickie store, and more will be discontinued. From Food Basics, the closest bus stop to Billings Bridge will be over 2½ times further compared to the current stop. Walking with large or heavy groceries will be a hurdle.
- Service to the Ottawa Train Yards will require taking routes 19, 42, or 48. This will require a transfer for most residents of Walkley, Heron and more.
